grounds for perjury

Okay, so is it perjury if somebody basically is like, I took care of this child from the time they were born, they were living with me only, and um when the reality is that they lived with their mom since the mom was pregnant until the baby was two years old. So is that like, is that fine detail considered like grounds for perjury?

Yeah, that could definitely be considered perjury if it's made under oath or as part of a sworn statement. Perjury is basically lying while you're testifying or swearing to the truth—so if someone falsely claims to have been the child’s primary caregiver when they weren’t, that’s a big problem in a legal context. If it’s just a casual claim outside of a formal legal setting, it’s still dishonest, but the legal consequences might be different.
