I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to speak today. I’m here as a parent whose family was torn apart by a system that was supposed to protect us. Three years ago, everything changed, and that’s why I launched The Jane Doe Files—because my story is not the only one. Across Virginia, families are facing a growing pattern of institutional failure, where those entrusted to protect children are not being held accountable. As Scripture reminds us, “Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression” (Isaiah 1:17), and that’s exactly what this mission is about—justice, accountability, and healing for families who have been overlooked and silenced.
