Update: We are fighting for our family
To everyone helping us
We are working harder than ever to bring my child home. Right now, we are waiting for two lawyers to come look at the house. This is a huge deal. Once they approve the home, we can finally have visits without someone watching us. This is the next big step toward being a family again.
Where things stand right now:
Visits
Right now, I only get to see my child in person once a week. The other two times are just over the phone or computer. It is hard, but we are asking the lawyers every day for more time together.
The Case
Even though the court case was "closed," we are not giving up. We are appealing (asking a higher court to fix it).
The Files
There was a mix-up with the mail, so we have to hand-deliver the "Jane Doe" files to the office in person to make sure they get there safe.
Helping other children:
I also created a new app called MyHomeJourney. It is a simple guide for kids in the system. It helps them understand what is happening and lets them check off boxes as they get closer to going home. We want kids to feel safe and know what is coming next.
