Your Visit Plan (for Families)
Each visit is part of a larger journey toward increased independence and stronger relationships. It is structured in stages to make sure everyone feels safe and supported. Moving step by step allows trust to build over time. It ensures that each new level of freedom is based on readiness and stability. The goal is not speed. The goal is long-term success, safety, and healthy connection.
Virtual Visit Phase
Visits are scheduled two days each week. These visits are supervised. During each visit, you will connect by video and spend time together. You will spend time talking, sharing, and interacting. You may play games, have conversations, or show things that are important to you. It is normal to feel different emotions before or during a visit.
You might feel excited.
You might feel nervous.
You might feel unsure.
You might feel hopeful.
You might feel more than one emotion.
All of these reactions are normal.
Understanding Feelings
Feelings can shift over time, just like the weather. You may start a visit feeling one way and end it feeling differently. That does not mean anything is wrong. It means you are human.
Check-In
Before each visit, take a moment to check in with yourself. Ask yourself how you are feeling today.
You might feel happy.
You might feel calm.
You might feel stressed.
You might feel frustrated.
You might feel confused.
You might feel neutral.
You are not required to explain your feelings unless you want to. This check-in helps you become more aware of what is going on internally. Your thoughts and feelings matter.
Hybrid Stage: In-Person / Online
Adding an Additional in-person visit to the schedule for one hour each week. A supervisor is present during each visit. The supervisor is there to help maintain safety and comfort for everyone involved. The focus is building consistency, safety, and positive interaction. A trained supervisor will be present the entire time. The supervisor’s role is to help make sure the visit stays safe, respectful, and on track. Their presence is meant to support the process, not interrupt it. If something feels overwhelming, support is available.
Apartment Approval
Adults review the living space to ensure it is safe and appropriate for visits. This step confirms that the environment supports your well-being. You will now be able to spend time together without a supervisor observing.
Final Stage: Community Integration
Spending time together in everyday settings such as parks, restaurants, school events, or other public places. This stage allows for more natural interaction and increased independence.
Reflection
At the end of each visit, take time to reflect.
What went well today?
What felt challenging?
What would you like to improve next time?
You are not expected to be perfect.
Progress is built through effort, consistency, and honest participation.
