Petition Update

This is an update on the Jane Doe Files. Previous text will be in the Jaemi XOXO blog under "Stop System Abuse [hyperlink]".

People should be able to leave unsafe homes.
People should be allowed to choose freedom.
moving out should not mean being forced back.

Different states have different rules, so you have to check the right ones. Sometimes papers are covered up, but they should not be fully hidden. When we ask for papers, workers have to answer on time. If case workers do not answer on time it shows everyone a system that's failing.

People who are hurt should be believed. People are innocent until proven guilty. Assumptions should be checked right away. Incompetence should have consequences. Courts should write things down. Police should wear body cameras. Social workers should check in often. One bad moment should not erase years of truth. People should be allowed to leave safely.

Stop abuse. Tell the truth. Write it down. Wear cameras. Check-in. Be fair. Protect rights. Stop abuse. Stop lying in court. Write down what happens. Wear body cameras. Look at real evidence and protect relatives of evidence-based abusers.

Right now in Virginia, people can file false reports over and over with little to no consequences. These reports can lead to forced hospital stays, custody fights, and permanent damage to someone’s name—even when there’s no real proof. The people who lie often face no punishment and when concern gets used like a weapon to control others, then those systems are failing. Fake problems should not steal real childhoods.

That's why I'm calling on decision-maker Senator Barb Favola to use your directly involved policy oversight position to help the systems that need reform.
