Jane Doe Chronicles

They said “we’ll look into it.”
I called. I emailed. I showed up.
I was not quiet.
Eight cavities didn’t happen overnight.
Falling behind in school didn’t happen overnight.
And putting a child in a room—sharing a bed—with someone known for crossing boundaries?
That didn’t happen by accident.
These were warnings.
These were chances.
These were moments where someone could have said: “Stop. This isn’t safe.”
Instead, they ignored me.
This isn’t about revenge.
It’s about accountability.
Because when the system ignores a parent trying to protect their child,
it teaches that child their safety is optional.
It’s not.
I’m speaking now because silence didn’t work.
And I won’t let what happened to my child be treated like it didn’t matter.
