The Cat Protective Services (A Rebrand)

In Virginia, the rules say the cat-protective-services workers have to try to fix problems first before taking cats away from their adults, and then they have to check on the cats after the removal too.

They're called the cat-protective-services and they're supposed to help protect cats from harm but sometimes they break the rules.

1️⃣ About CPS and My Cat
The cat-protective-services worker came to my house almost every day for two weeks (and didn't really help with anything) and then, after two weeks they took my cat, and then, nobody came back to check on me, my cat, or the house where my cat is now.

Write-Up

1. If the cat-protective-services worker takes a cat away from his adult without first going to the vet, going to cat training classes at the pet store, or connecting you with organizations that give away free cat food. That's against the rules. They are supposed to try other ways of fixing problems.

2. If the cat-protective-services workers fail to check-in at least twice a month. That is against the rules. They are supposed to inspect the home and do interviews multiple times afterward to make sure everyone is safe.

2️⃣ About the Cat’s Lawyer
I told the lawyer for my cat many times that my cat was being hurt at the new home. The lawyer didn’t listen to me.

Write Up:

1. If a cat lawyer is not making sure the cat is safe. That is against the rules. They are supposed to look into what people say about the cat's safety and ultimately make sure the cat is protected.

3️⃣ About My Lawyer
My lawyer said everything would be easy and promised to help me get my cat back. But he didn't. That's against the rules (social rules):

Lawyers are supposed to tell their client what’s happening. Be real with them. And stay sober... He didn’t do that.

4️⃣ About APS
An adult-protective-services worker told me to say I was worse than I really am so I could qualify for disability (money). They said it would help me get my cat back.

Write Up:

1. If an adult protective services worker pressures someone to do something that isn’t true. That is against the rules.They should not help someone trick a grown-up. They should not pretend nothing is wrong.

2. If an adult-protective-services worker sees the cat-protective-services worker break the rules and they don't try to stop it, tell the truth, and protect the person being hurt. That is against the rules. They are not allowed to help the harm or ignore it.

5️⃣ About the Court
There is one more court day where I can tell my side. I want to show the judge everything that happened. I want my cat to be safe. I want the grown-ups to follow the rules and do the right thing.

6️⃣ Ending
I just want things to be fair.
I want my cat safe and happy.
I want everyone to follow the rules.
